BusinessWeek Features NSA for Arc Flash Clothing Innovation
BusinessWeek LogoBusinessWeek SmallBiz mentions NSA Manufacturing for innovation in arc flash.

This week’s BusinessWeek SmallBiz magazine has an article focusing on NSA Manufacturing in Cleveland, OH.  NSA manufacturers many common arc flash clothing specialty systems in the market and is a leader in arc flash research along with Paulson Manufacturing.  Hugh Hoagland was interviewed for the article and is mentioned.  The focus of the article was on entrepeneurship and innovation, something which arc flash has definitely sparked.  Pun intended.
The innovation of NSA and so many others has led to a growing industry which is putting so many more folks in the “right stuff” everday.  This is one of my personal goals.

OSHA Clarifies 2007 Electrical Installations
In little noticed update in Federal Register, OSHA clarifies stance on electrical installations.

The most noticable change in this Federal Register update to the 2007 Electical Installation update from October 29, 2008 to Subpart S is the mention of GFCI’s AND several mentions of NFPA 70E. The gist of the change makes it clear OSHA and NFPA 70E are in alignment.  Though the question was specifically around shipyards.  The OSHA answer goes beyond that and makes the intent of OSHA and NFPA 70E clear.  OSHA has implemented part of NFPA 70E in the 2000 version but this does not mandate clothing but OSHA has been citing clothing issues when workers are hurt under the “general duty clause”. Our newsletter is sponsored by many companies around the world.  If you have ideas for articles or have questions, don’t hesitate to write.
Sincerely,
