Maine’s Bath Iron Works Fined $171K by OSHA

OSHA proposed fines of $171,300 to Bath Iron Works for violations of workplace safety standards at its shipyad in Augusta, ME.  Included in the electrical hazards was an unqualified employee operating an overhead crane, unguarded electrical equipment, and exposed and damaged electrical sheathing. OSHA proposed $178k in penalties to the manufacturer of Chobani Greek Yogurt.  Included in the 34 violations of workplace safety and health standards were failure to train employees in electric safety-related work practices, and lack of PPE for employees working on live electrical equipment.
